About Me

My Work

Kia ora! My name is Marc van Woerkom and I am a passionate wildlife photographer. I feel humble when in the presence of the unique and wonderful wildlife we share our space with. By photographing an animal, I am documenting its life, capturing intimate moments of its existence.

Landscape is a slight distraction from wildlife. I love to photograph contrasting colours; bare lands; hidden secrets... There is so much beauty around us, constantly changing due to seasonal conditions, lighting and weather moods – it’s truly magical.

Biography

My interest in wildlife photography started when I was fortunate enough to do a five month safari in Africa back in the early nineties. Witnessing the amazing animals in their natural environment ignited my passion for wildlife photography and my awareness of conservation.

Dunedin, in New Zealand’s south Island is where I call home and where most of my photos have been taken but I do love to travel when I can and explore unique places and showcase the wildlife that live there. Recent places I have been to are Australia, Brazil and Alaska.

I've completed a diploma in digital photography, which opened my eyes to different tools and techniques. I am forever learning and experimenting – aiming for that perfect shot.

Through photography I hope to inspire others to protect and preserve the stunning landscapes and unique wildlife we share so future generations can enjoy the natural world also.

I hope you enjoy my work. Feel free to leave me comments or just say hi. I welcome your feedback - get in touch.
